Beach Days

From Coffs we have headed north along the coast.  We spent a few days in Byron Bay, which drew a mixed response - beautiful place with lots of fun things to do, but these days there are just so many people, the specialness has been somewhat reduced.  We surfed at The Pass while we were there, and have decided that it's got to be Australia's busiest break (check out Luke's sunset photo of the waves and the crowds).  We had dinner at my all time favourite restaurant, Red Hot and Green (tempura perch with paw paw salad for me, and red curry for Luke). We also reached a major milestone on the trip - the first of our compass points, the most easterly point on the mainland (see photo below) - now just three more to go!!

From Byron we headed up into the hinterland to visit friends at a lovely spot near Rosedale.  Tom's parents have replanted an old dairy farm and now play host to a menagerie of native animals, inlcuding lots of birds, possums, koalas, echidnas, snakes - all in the backyard!

We are now hanging out with K and Mikey on the Gold Coast, getting some waves before we head to Europe.  Today is the first sunny day in a while and is predicted to be one of the few with sunshine for the upcoming week, so we are off to hit the beach.

Some Byron photos are on flikr.  BB photos
